Nicholas M. Hanson, 82, of Elyria, died, December 18, 2020. He was born June 3, 1938 in Medina, Ohio and was a 1956 graduate of Elyria High School. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from The Ohio State University and a Masters Degree in Chemistry from Simmons College, Boston. For thirty two years Nick taught chemistry in the Elyria City Schools, mostly at Elyria High School, from where he retired. He had also been a chemistry professor at Lorain County Community College. He was a seventy year member of First United Methodist Church where he served as an usher and volunteer. Nick is survived by his wife of sixty years, Pamela K.; sons, Geoffrey (Janet) Hanson of Elyria and Mark (James) Hanson of Savannah, Georgia; daughter, Jennifer (Scott) Weinstein of Pearland, Texas; grandchildren, Nicole (Jared) Hubicsak, Jessica (Tyler) Perkins and Rebekah, Ethan, Rachel, Lily and Isaac Weinstein; great grandchildren, Lydia and Elliot and a sister, Marguerite (Brian) Hays of East Dundee, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ora and Ruth Hanson. Friends will be received Wednesday December 23, 2020 from 11:00 AM until the time of a 1:00 PM service at Dicken Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. Reverend W. Kent Joy, Pastor of First United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Brookdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 312 3rd Street Elyria or a charity of choice.
