William “Bill” Barchard died unexpectedly at the age of 75 Monday, November 23, 2015 in Toledo.
Bill was born in Elyria on September 11, 1940, graduated from Elyria High School in 1958, he earned his engineering degree from The Ohio State University. He was a member of the DeMolay and a past Master of King Solomon’s Lodge No. 56 in Elyria. He was employed at General Electric and Ridge Tool and after moving to Temperance, Michigan in 1987, he began working at Hammill Manufacturing, where he retired after 23 years.
His family will remember him as a strong and gentle man. He enjoyed reading, playing softball and being outdoors, caring for his cats and spending time with his soul mate and wife, Nancy.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy (nee Regenhardt); brother, Jack Frank of Pickerington; daughters, Suzanne (Christopher) Hanzely of Columbia Station, Sandra Barchard-Helminiak of Maumee and Sharon (Gregory) Piper of North Ridgeville; stepchildren, Joe Fausz of Virginia, Susan (Richard) Kinkoph of Virginia and Amy (Glenn) Marcotte of Rhode Island; proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren and great-grandfather to two.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, June O’Donnell, Beverly Connelly and James Frank.
