Richard Blair

RiBlair_Richardchard L. Blair, 76, of Elyria, died Wednesday, February 18, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 10, 1939 in Berea, where he lived until at the age of 7 moving to Elyria.

Richard was a 1958 graduate of Elyria High School and employed for 32 years at Ford Motor Company, Lorain, retiring in 1993. He was a life member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Elyria, where he was a former altar boy. Shopping for his remodeling and decorating projects were an enjoyable pastime. Other interests included tending his rose garden, fishing, camping, boating and reading. He was knowledgeable regarding current events and passionate when discussing politics. He loved traveling, his dogs and cooking and entertaining, especially for family gatherings during the holidays.

Richard is survived by his wife of 36 years, Karen L. Blair; children, Susan (Mark) Blair-McKinley of Amherst and Mark (Jessica) Blair of Perrysburg, Ohio; stepchildren, Katherine Inderrieden, Mary (Randy) Mizen-Bruce, John (Cheryl) McKenna, all of Elyria and Pauline McKenna of Ann Arbor, Michigan; grandchildren, Tiana, Alex, Katie, James, Jacob, Brittany, Paul, Hayley, Julia and Emily; great- grandchildren, Peyton, Carter, Adam and Aubrianna and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Gwendolyn Blair and a sister, Molly Rader.

Friends will be received Sunday, February 22, 2015, from 12 Noon until 2 P.M., at Dicken Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 323 Middle Ave. Elyria. A service will follow at 2:30 P.M., at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 300 Third St., Elyria, with the Reverend June Hardy Dorsey, Rector, officiating. A burial service will be Monday, February 23, 2015, Memorial Park, North Olmsted.
