Gary Cohagan

Gary L. Cohagan, 80, of Elyria, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Mercy New Life Hospice.  He was born October 11, 1940 in Lodi and was a lifelong Elyria resident.

Gary worked as a tool and die maker at Ridge Tool Co. in Elyria for 38 years, retiring in 2003.  He was an active member of St. Vincent DePaul Catheloic Church and Holy Name Society of the church.  He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council 774, a 1958 Elyria High School graduate and formerly coached baseball for Elyria Little League West, also coached C.Y. O. basketball.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Karen (nee-Donovan); daughters, Rebecca (Michael) Kaminchak and Jean Cohagan; son, Scott (Tracy) Cohagan; grandchildren, Caitlin, Michael, Christina, Casidy and Tanner; great-granddaughter Aria; brothers, Gordon (Marilyn) Cohagan and Joh (Vicky) Henrikson.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at St. Vincent DePaul Church, 41295 N. Ridge Rd., Elyria, from 10 a.m. until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.  Facial coverings and social distancing are required.  The Reverend Father John Retar, Pastor, will be the Celebrant.  Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria.

In liew of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the church or to Mercy New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Rd., Lorain, Oh 44053.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Elyria.
