SAMUEL W. LEES JR., 66, SUPERVISOR FOR MR/DD
ELYRIA -- Samuel W. Lees Jr., 66, of Elyria died Monday, Dec. 25, 2006, at EMH Regional Medical Center, Elyria, following a long illness.

He was born April 30, 1940, in Greensburg, Pa., and lived in Elyria for 55 years.

He graduated from Elyria High School in 1958.

Lees was employed as a supervisor by the Lorain County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, from which he retired. He also worked in printing as a printer and broker and owned SWL Graphics Unlimited.

He was a member of Elks Lodge 465 and Fraternal Order of Eagles, both in Elyria. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962, stationed for three years in Japan and then in Alaska.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Carol J. (nee Gilliam); daughters, Melissa Jackson and Gabrielle Rainey; stepdaughters, Lori Mestas and Lisa Heath; stepson, Robert Haley; sister, Barbara Jaroscak; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Edith Lees Sr.

Friends may call 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at Community United Methodist Church, 680 N. Abbe Road, Elyria, with the Rev. Donald Lare officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity. Arrangements are being handled by Dicken Funeral Home, Elyria. (T-G 12/29/06)
