George Wallace Proctor, born on March 17, 1939, in Columbia, TN, passed away on June 16, 2024, in Rocky River, OH, at the age of 85. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn Harrington Proctor and daughters Grace Proctor and Allison Proctor. George was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Proctor, and his grandmother, Pauline Cheek (Frierson).
George and his grandmother moved to Elyria, Ohio when he was a teenager, and it was where he met his future wife, Carolyn Harrington. He later went into the Army and served until 1964, where he was trained in electronics. His military background shaped his disciplined and dedicated approach to life.
After his military service, George embarked on a successful career at Gilford Instruments, starting with repairing medical equipment. He was later promoted to sales, where he excelled in selling and repairing medical equipment. His expertise led to a promotion to the audit division, overseeing the quality control of medical equipment. Gilford Instruments merged with Corning Glass and George remained dedicated to the organization, eventually becoming manager of Customer Service and showcasing his leadership abilities and commitment to excellence.
Outside of work, George had a passion for plays, musicals and jazz, the latter which he cherished since his youth. He enjoyed traveling, both for work and leisure, with trips to England, Holland, and Mexico. One of his favorite pastimes was going on cruises with his wife Carolyn, creating cherished memories together in places such as Alaska, Spain and Morocco.
With his interest in medical equipment and a passion for science (primarily physics), George donated his body to the Cleveland Clinic.
Although George left Columbia as a teenager, he never forgot the time he spent there, and cherished the memories he had growing up with his grandmother and great grandmother. He went back to do genealogy research and visit family he hadn't seen for years.
George Proctor's dedication to his country, career, and family leaves a lasting legacy. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Another great loss of a Classmate --- George Proctor. He was known to his Football Team as "Foxy". He was our Fullback. As a runner, he was very fast, powerful, and evasive!! At one of our past Reunions I had the pleasure of sitting with George and Carolyn. We caught up on recent news and reminisced about our days at EHS. I am so happy for that time together!!Jack Washka
George was always kind, sincere, and above all else, a Gentleman. Godspeed, My Dear Friend.
