Raymond C. Wasuk, 78, of Lorain, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Mercy New Life Hospice, Lorain, following a short illness. He was born March 4, 1940 in Lorain and lived in Lorain County all of his life.
Raymond graduated from Elyria High School in 1958, then served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a postal carrier for 33 years in Bay Village, Raymond retired from the United States Postal Service.
Raymond attended Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain and was a member of several Veterans groups in the County. He enjoyed fishing, boating, golfing and sports. Starting in the late 1970s, Raymond disc jockeyed for 13 years at WZLE under the radio name of "Ray West".
Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Betty (nee Bulk); sons, Raymond A. (Tanya) of North Ridgeville and Randy (Michelle) of Marblehead; daughter, Rachel (Tom) Fogarty of North Ridgeville; seven grandchildren and sister, Mary Ann Miller of Monroeville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Stella (nee Sobotka) Wasuk; brother, Frank and sister, Dorothy Holzhauer.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 23, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where funeral services will be Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 9:30 A.M., followed by Mass at 10 A.M. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 418 W. 15th Street, Lorain. The Reverend Robert Glepko, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria. The Amvets Post 32 will conduct Military Honors.
