Tom and I met in the first grade at Lake Avenue School and were classmates each year through our first year of college. He drove that 1949 black Chevy many miles with me as a passenger. Somehow I always paid for the gas (and was happy to do it). He loved travel almost as much as he loved his wife, Susan nee Prentice (EHS Class of 1959). His dedication to NorthWest Airlines was legendary. When he was on assignment in the Orient and longed for a taste of home, his NW buddies had Oh Boy sauce sent to him in Japan. He also had a retirement party at Midway Drive-In. Nelson Krugman would be proud. In 2003 I lost two classmates who were very close friends, Tom and Paul Crowder. Their humor and zest for life are sorely missed.
TOM sat in front of me in homeroom all through highschool, then we went our separate ways
after graduation. When we reunited in 1963 through Tom's wife Susan Prentice, it was to become a life long friendship tho they moved around a lot with Tom's job at Northwest. We were able to visit them in every place they lived, Chicago, Hawaii, Boston. They are god parents to 2 of our children and Sue is still a big part of all our lives. We all miss Tom greatly and will celebrate is life on the eighth anniversary of his passing on Feb 14, 2011.
